I hate reading food labels! I like what I like, and that is all that matters. If it was not safe for me, they would not sell it in the store. I’ve eaten this all my life, and I am fine…so what does it matter now?
Which one of the above statements and questions applies to you? One of them? All of them? Let’s explore the ramifications of each of these decisions.
Many people either don’t read the label on foods that are packaged or read it with a misunderstanding of what the labels mean. Sometimes we are led simply by our taste buds. This my friend, I believe to be the biggest culprit. We walk around a grocery store or 7-11 and go for something to meet more of an immediate need (hunger) and at times negate once that food, snack, treat passes over our tongue, it has either positive or negative impacts on our body. Begin thinking about it. Lots of opportunity to “save your diet” by reading those labels.
I want to touch on the old adage of I’ve eaten this my whole life, what does it matter now? Truth is, it mattered before and it matters now.
In an effort to not wage war on our food industry, I will make only one comment on the idea of safe items being made available in the stores. Many chemicals and unnatural ingredients are in the foods that you eat every day, and you must make it your responsibility to educate yourself on these items. Everything you eat has effect on your body.
Adding in a few extra minutes here and there to read food labels will truly be of benefit to you. Yes it is a process, and if you have questions feel free to email me at princessakeemab@gmail.com and I would be happy to help get you started!
Grace and Peace,
