Yesterday I began the first day of a six day long ROOT REBOOT! This is going to be a stretch of time where I over consume root vegetables by juicing, eating whole-raw foods, and making sure they are fresh and organic. I opted to do this the week after Thanksgiving because well many foods were consumed that slow down the digestive system and I want to support my system in proper functionality.
I am a HUGE supporter of and believer in juicing. Much of my ROOT REBOOT consumption over the next six days will be in the form of juicing. Whether I juice at home or find my way to a local juice bar, I will drink to my health. I won’t spend this piece talking heavy on the benefits of juicing, but in this ROOT REBOOT I want to ingest the juice because it is easier than breaking down solid foods.
The two root vegetables that I am focusing on for this ROOT REBOOT are carrots and beets. These two are harvested all year and can be found in your local organic markets. Root vegetables, even though thoroughly washed, have obtained so much nutrition from the soil in which it has grown in.
I recently had a friend tell me that she did not like the taste of beets because they taste dirty. I chuckled to myself because indeed she is so true about that. That dirty taste of the beets is a sweet indication of the rich soil and minerals that have housed your beet. Although carrots do not have that same dirty taste, the richness from the soil still proves to be the same.
This ROOT REBOOT will help in replacing many of the minerals that my own body needs to function properly. Our body is made of minerals and other trace elements which are found in soil so consuming more root vegetables helps support the body.
I just began yesterday (a Saturday) and will carry this all the way through Thursday. I choose six day over any other number because I am going out of town on the seventh day of this. There is never a time to not consume ANY vegetable, but this is just a focus on root veggies. Overload your system with me and join the ROOT REBOOT!
Tips:
- Continue eating solid foods. Try focusing on whole, plant-based foods.
- Juices must be consumed in larger quantities to replace meals. If you are drinking small portions, simply drink a juice before consuming a meal.
- If you are using a blender instead of a traditional juicer, just strain the pulp from the juice and enjoy.
- Drinking straight beet or straight carrot juice may not be palatable. You can cut these juices with apples for flavor.
