When I first started talking with people about holistic health and holistic medicine, many people would ask, “Well what EXACTLY is it?” I would simply explain that holistic takes on the approach of the whole person; the entire body. When considering health, so many factors have to be taken into consideration. We may hone in on exercise and diet, but those two are components of a larger whole.
Now that I became certified as a holistic nutrition practitioner, the new questions I am getting are, “What does a holistic nutrition consult look like?” I happily answer that question like this – You get a person (ME) who will evaluate all your current and past health concerns/issues, take your preferences and likes into consideration, make recommendations, and partner with you to help use homeopathic means to heal, restore, and maintain your health.
Building a relationship with my clients where they can learn to trust me; trusting my knowledge, trusting that I have their best interest as my focus, and trusting my growing process as I learn more is most important to me.
Clients have to be willing to walk through this process as well. Holistic means to “cure” the body typically are not quick. When I have persons to come me looking for a quickie, I normally encourage them to perhaps take evaluation of their priorities and if health is not high on the list, I’d like to help show them why it should be.
Our health affects and is effected by all areas of our lives; which is why during a holistic consult so many questions are asked, every detail is important, and why your practitioner wants to be so involved. Helping to connect those dots as well as aiding the physical body will improve your health…your life.
